Project Description
Capstan is an upcoming elevated station on the Canada Line in Metro Vancouver’s SkyTrain system. Located in Richmond, BC, it will be the first infill station on the line. The new AxisSystems project, with a tight six-month timeline, started on Canada Day 2023. It involves the installation of integrated security systems, including Public Address, CCTV Surveillance, Emergency Intercom, and Access Control. The station will feature over 30 specialized Avigilon megapixel IP cameras and DILAX Public Address speakers.
Public Address System
The PA system at the Skytrain station consists of a DSP processor integrated amplifier system by Dilax, ambient noise-sensing microphones on the platform, and is centrally controlled by the OMC1 – Operations, Maintenance, and Command Centre located in New Westminster.
CCTV Surveillance System
The Surveillance System at the facility includes megapixel IP cameras (Indigo Vision / Avigilon) strategically placed, with Bosch fixed camera enclosures and Avigilon PTZ cameras. The Surveillance System oversees secure room entry for mechanical, maintenance, and storage areas.
Emergency Intercom System
Installed at locations across the platform and station, the kiosks serve as communication points for the public. In case of emergencies or when assistance, individuals can easily access the intercoms to make direct calls, ensuring a prompt response and the safety of passengers and staff.
Access Control System
The Access Control System implemented, plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and efficient transit environment. By ensuring secure entry and restricted access, it enhances safety measures and effectively manages the flow of individuals for smooth operations and minimizing risks or disruptions.
